Medical doctors from Spain are among the latest researchers to present data supporting the validity of penile traction therapy (PTT). The group of Urologists located in Madrid published the results of their non-randomized controlled trial in the peer-reviewed Journal of Sexual Medicine. Among the evidence presented were findings that substantiated the effectiveness of penis extenders in reducing penile curvature, increasing erection hardness and improving overall sexual function in men.
Traction Devices for Peyronie's Disease Management
As reported in this published study
A Non-randomized Prospective Controlled Trial with Ultrasound Correlation
In total, the study consisted of 96 men experiencing penile curvature. Of this group, 55 patients used a traction device for a period of 6-9 months while 41 patients did not receive any treatment at all. Of the men using the penis traction device, the following results were observed:
- Curvature was decreased from 33 degrees to 15 degrees at six months and 13 degrees at nine months (a mean decrease of 20 degrees).
- Pain levels decreased by nearly half (a reduction in pain level score of 5.5 to 2.5 after six months).
- Erection hardness and function improved significantly.
- The percentage of men not able to achieve penetration during sexual intercourse decreased from 62% to 20%.
- Ultrasound imaging revealed that plaque deposits within the penis disappeared within 48% of patients using penile traction therapy.

These results are nothing short of phenomenal, perhaps more so in light of the outcome of the group not receiving penile traction therapy. Those men who did not use a penis traction device over the same time period experienced an increase in penis deformity (curvature), a decrease in penis length, an increase in pain levels and a worsening of erection function and hardness. It is a sobering reminder of the severity of this disease and the progressive worsening of the condition if left untreated.
At the end of the trial study the researchers concluded:
"PTT seems an effective treatment for the AP of PD in terms of pain reduction, penile curvature decrease, and improvement in sexual function."
There can be no doubt that traction devices have become an effective and safe alternative to traditional penile curvature treatments such as surgery. There are now even commercially available products such as the Peyronies Device that include additional moisturizing oils and special amino acids and enzymes to help improve results in the fastest time possible.
Thanks to these types of technological advancements, men suffering with a curved or bent penis now have a non-invasive option that can restore their sexual functioning and help them to experience a healthier and more satisfying sex life.
