There are many reasons why a man may ejaculate prematurely. Sometimes it can be attributed to a mental response such as becoming excited too quickly and losing control, while other times it may be due to a biological condition. New evidence suggests that an individuals physiology may also play a role in premature ejaculation. One specific element of penile anatomy in particular, the frenulum, may be directly linked to the occurrence of premature ejaculation in some men.
Penis Frenulum
The frenulum, full name frenulum of prepuce of penis, is the elastic membrane of tissue located on the underside of the penis directly beneath the glans (penis head). You can see it as slightly highlighted in color in the attached picture. This area of skin contains many nerve endings and is very responsive to touch and light stimulation.
The frenulum connects the foreskin on the underside of the penis to the glans and can vary in size and shape. In some cases all or part of the frenulum is amputated during circumcision which can diminish sexual sensation and orgasm intensity.
Premature Ejaculation and Frenulum Length
In previous articles we've explained that there are different types of premature ejaculation and in some cases the condition can be related to penile sensitivity. New studies have suggested that there may also be a direct relationship between premature ejaculation and the actual length of the frenulum.

Lengthening the Frenulum
Both of the above mentioned studies employed a surgical procedure known as frenulectomy in order to lengthen the frenulum and alleviate premature ejaculation. While this method has shown to be effective, there are always certain risks involved with any type of surgery.
One possible technique for lengthening the frenulum that doesn't involve surgery is through manual stretching of the penis. It has already been suggested that penis traction devices that stretch and lengthen the penis may also help cure sexual dysfunction. Using a penis extender device to naturally elongate the frenulum over time may work to reduce the likelihood of ejaculating prematurely during sex.
While having a short frenulum is not always the cause of premature ejaculation, it is still something to consider if you are one of the many men suffering from this dysfunction.
