G-Spot LightEven after decades of scientific research and discovery, the mysterious female G-Spot remains one of the most controversial subjects in the study of female sexuality. Questions such as, "Where is the G-Spot located?" and "Does the G-Spot even really exist?" continue to rank among the most frequently asked when the topic of female sexual anatomy and feminine desire are discussed. Even the results of a recent scientific debate on this subject does little to stem the continuing controversy. In fact, the opinions of some researchers suggest that the G-Spot may be even more complex than previously thought.

The Female G-Spot

The G-Spot refers to an area within the vagina that when stimulated is said to induce extremely intense and satisfying orgasms. Many believe it to be a fixed spot on the upper vaginal wall located approximately 2 inches inside the vagina. According to some researchers, this belief may be entirely too restricted as evidence points to much greater variations among women.

Scientific Debate

The results of a debate published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine (see original abstract entitled "Who's Afraid of the G-spot?") examines the views of six separate researchers and their subsequent findings regarding the G-Spot:

"Expert #1, who is JSM's Controversy section editor, reviewed histological data from the literature demonstrating the existence of discrete anatomical structures within the vaginal wall composing the G-spot. He also found that this region is not a constant, but can be highly variable from woman to woman."

Unlike earlier beliefs regarding the G-Spot, this new theory suggests that its exact location may in fact vary from one woman to the next. Although not endorsed by everyone, this theory has been supported by other researchers:

"These data are supported by the findings discussed by Expert #2, dealing with the history of the G-spot and by the fascinating experimental evidences presented by Experts #4 and #5, showing the dynamic changes in the G-spot during digital and penile stimulation. Experts #3 and #6 argue critically against the G-spot discussing the contrasting findings so far produced on the topic."

When all is said and done, there is still no real consensus on where exactly the G-Spot is located. If it does in fact reside in different locations depending upon each individual woman then this may explain why so few men are able to consistently produce G-Spot-induced orgasms in various partners. Ultimately what may work for one woman may have no result whatsoever in another!

The Importance of Proper Stimulation

Based on my own personal experiences, I don't particularly subscribe to a "magic button" philosophy. To me it seems unlikely that there's a specific area located within EVERY WOMAN that will generate an orgasm when stimulated. Since each woman is unique and has her own preferences, I feel that experimentation is the only way to guarantee success.

Another important factor to consider when attempting to incite orgasm in women (G-Spot induced or otherwise) is the total amount of stimulation supplied. This has a lot to do with the actual size of the penis, in particular the thickness of the penile shaft.

When the width of the penis is thicker a greater amount of surface area within the vagina is stimulated. This increases the chance of contact with the G-Spot regardless of wherever it may actually be located. This is probably why penis girth is such an important aspect to many women when it comes to sexual satisfaction.

While the debate over the G-Spot is likely to continue, I do wholeheartedly agree with the researchers ultimate conclusion:

"Although a huge amount of data (not always of good quality) have been accumulated in the last 60 years, we still need more research on one of the most challenging aspects of female sexuality."

In that respect I will continue to perform my own personal "research" into the mysteries of the G-Spot. I suggest that all men do likewise... for the sake of science of course!
