The inability to achieve or sustain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse, otherwise known as Erectile Dysfunction (ED), is a condition that is estimated to affect over 18 million men in the U.S. alone. While much research has been done in recent years to determine the underlying causes of erection problems, there has been little evidence to support a direct link between this condition and the size of a penis – that is, until now. A new study suggests that there may in fact be a direct correlation between penis size and erectile dysfunction.

Case Study

A study† recently published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine was conducted to determine the average stretched penis size in normal men compared with that of patients suffering from erectile dysfunction. The test group consisted of over one thousand subjects from a hospital outpatient clinic and contained both potent males and those suffering with ED. Using a tape measure and ruler, both penile length and girth in the fully stretched states were measured to determine average size.

Results

In the group of normal men with no symptoms of ED, it was determined that the average fully stretched length was 12.9 cm (+/- 1.9 cm) and the fully stretched girth was 8.9 cm (+/- 0.9 cm). In the group with ED patients, the average fully stretched penis length was 11.2 cm (+/- 1.5 cm) and fully stretched girth was 8.8 cm (+/- 0.8 cm).

Using the data compiled it can be seen that while girth measurements between the two groups were fairly consistent (only a 0.1 cm difference), the length differential was quite pronounced. Those men not suffering from erectile dysfunction were approximately 1.7 cm larger – or nearly .67 inches longer in size. These statistics suggest that men with ED tend to have significantly shorter penises than those without erection problems.

†Source: Comparing Penile Measurements in Normal and ED Subjects

Why Do Men with ED have Shorter Penises?

While the researchers themselves offer no suggestions as to why this discrepancy in size exists, I suspect it is tied to both physical and psychological reasons.

Physiologically speaking, the penis tends to shrink in size when it is not functioning properly. Without adequate and regular blood flow to the muscles, veins and arteries in and near the corpora cavernosa, the surrounding tissues of the penis breakdown and atrophy.

From a psychological perspective, this condition is further compounded as men who suffer from erectile dysfunction tend to avoid sexual intercourse and the necessary stimulation it provides. In essence they lack the motivation to have sex (understandably due to their condition) and therefore the penis is not stimulated on a regular basis. In other words, use it or lose it.

The findings from this study only helps to reinforce the importance of maintaining proper penis heath. Through proper exercise and the use of certified devices to treat ED, not only can men avoid problems like erectile dysfunction, they can also ensure that the size of their penis remains uncompromised.

The SizeGenetics extender is often the preferred method of penis enlargement for those men looking to increase their size in a fast, safe and effective manner. Unlike penis exercises which require some dedicated hands-on training, extender devices can be simply worn over the penis allowing for hours of continuous and "hands free" use. The ease in which penis extenders allow any man to increase the size of their penis is one of the main reasons why this type of treatment has become so popular. The following video gives us a quick look into how the penis extender device works and what kind of results can be expected through regular use.

SizeGenetics Video and Transcript

[There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.]

The SizeGenetics extender uses traction to assist the body's natural ability to change and develop under physical influence. In the past, this science has been used to grow stunted arms and legs and within the last 10 years has also been used to help sufferers of micropenis syndrome. Micropenis syndrome is when a person has an erect penis which is typically under 1 inch in length. Thanks in part to traction devices, many sufferers go on to have heavy, full size penises.

As a result of the overwhelming success for micropenis sufferers, traction devices are now medically endorsed to be sold to the mainstream market.

So how does SizeGenetics work? The penis is a fairly complex organ but the crucial part of penile enlargement is the corpora cavernosa. This is the part of the penis which holds blood during erections.

When a weight lifter lifts weights, he forces his biceps to stretch and exert themselves and cell duplication will occur making the bicep muscle bigger. SizeGenetics works on the same premise. By stretching the penis over a long period of time, the cells in the corpora cavernosa will duplicate allowing the penis to become bigger as it accommodates the training it is undergoing. Like with weight training, the more you train the bigger you will get.

Now that the corpora cavernosa can hold more blood, the penis will naturally become longer both while flaccid and erect and you will find that your penis will now experience better blood flow. This increased blood flow will make your erect penis considerably harder and will allow it to last longer during sexual intercourse.

Overall, the majority of SizeGenetics users can expect to receive gains of up to 30% in length and girth which are both permanent and impressive.

If you'd like to learn more about how you too can increase your penis size by up to 30%, then please visit the SizeGenetics website for more information. For anyone interested in adding inches to their size, this is an opportunity that shouldn't be missed!

Although often referred to as enlargement or enhancement pills, natural penis supplements might perhaps be better classified as penis "expanding" pills based on the effect they have on the body. When ingested over a period of time, the herbal ingredients contained within these capsules work to directly influence blood flow and expand the tissues that the penis is comprised of.

To understand how penis pills work, you first need a basic understanding of the penis structure itself and how an erection functions. One common misconception is that it involves muscular contraction. This is not the case. Instead, an erection utilizes a pressure system, specifically pressurized blood.

The penis is made up of three primary chambers. The pair of chambers located on the dorsal side of the penis, individually called the Corpora Cavernosa, are composed of sponge-like erectile tissue. The chamber located on the ventral side of the penis is called the Corpus Spongiosum and contains the urethra and meatus. The Corpus Spongiosum is responsible for the discharge of urine and semen.

When a man becomes sexually excited, his brain initiates a signal which causes hormones to rush blood into the penis through penile arteries. This blood engorges the tissues lining the Corpora Cavernosa filling the reservoirs to capacity and causing the penis to become erect.

Since the size of a man's penis is determined by the amount of blood that his erectile tissues can hold, making it larger is attained by physically expanding the size of the tissue chambers themselves. The concept behind penis pills is to artificially force this expansion above and beyond the normal reaction.

Penis pills contain organic herbal ingredients that rejuvenate and promote the flow of blood into the penis. Each ingredient is formulated to target specific cells in the penis and create a healthier blood passage into the entire penile region. This formula has a direct effect on the receptive cells of the penis by influencing hormone levels and intensifying the flow of blood.

A significant increase of blood circulation in the penile arteries produces bigger erections. Over time the arteries and surrounding erectile tissue will also increase in size due to the expansion caused by the internal pressure. In short, penis pills enhance the body's natural ability to expand which results in increased length and girth.

While these supplements are being used successfully by many men around the world to increase penis size, it should be noted that not all are created equal. There are some that can contain harmful ingredients and others that are simply ineffective. For a comparison of some of the leading brands available today, visit our Penis Pill Comparisons breakdown. As always, if you are taking other medication it is advisable to consult with a physician prior to use.

While an erection may appear to be fairly simple and straightforward, it is actually one of the most complex and impressive functions of the human body. The process of achieving an erection is controlled by either the central nervous system or the autonomic nervous system, depending on the type of stimulation involved.

For men the most common types of stimulation are visual, auditory, olfactory, imaginary and tactile. These are the stimuli that tell the cerebral cortex to start the erection process. Erectile centers in the lumbar and sacral regions of the spinal cord continue the process by signaling the nerves located in the pubic area to begin the release of nitric oxide. This chemical compound functions as a signaling molecule to transmit information from one cell to another.

When nitric oxide is released, arteries that supply blood to the penis dilate which allows a greater supply of blood to enter the penis. This blood engorges the two sponge-like and expandable tissues known as the Corpora Cavernosa. The tubular structure located beneath the Corpora Cavernosa through which urine and semen pass, called the Corpus Spongiosum, also becomes slightly engorged with blood although not to the extent that the Corpora Cavernosa does.

Once enough blood has flooded the penis, the arteries contract, normal blood flow is resumed and the blood inside the penis is trapped and prevented from leaving the area. This process can occur in both the presence and absence of external stimuli and is handled by the autonomic nervous system with minimal input from the central nervous system. Once stimulation ends, the autonomic nervous system directs the arteries to constrict and blood is forced out of the penis.

The cerebral cortex, while not always directly involved in the types of stimulation that cause erections, can play a major role in prolonging and terminating one. Since the mind is so powerful and even a single thought is often capable of ending an erection, men wishing to sustain an erection should take care not to dwell on things that would negatively effect arousal.

This is part three of the five part series outlining a beginner penis exercise routine. The following exercise, called The Jelq, is one of the oldest and most famous techniques for exercising the penis. While the exact origin of this exercise is not known, many believe it was developed within the Arabic culture and that it dates back several hundred years.

There are many advanced jelq methods and while the following is only the most basic, it remains a great starter exercise for strengthening and thickening the penis. In essence it works by increasing the flow of blood to the Corpora Cavernosa which over time expands and stretches. This stimulates the soft tissues and cells within the penis and, after adequate rest and healing, allows them to develop and rebuild stronger.

The Jelq

Prior to starting this exercise, the Warm Up Cloth and Long Stretch, both detailed in parts one and two of this series, respectively, should be performed.

The jelq technique can be done either in a sitting or standing position. Beginning with a partially erect penis, grasp the base of the penis between index finger and thumb using an 'OK' sign hand gesture. Using a firm grip and moderate pressure, slowly slide your hand down the penis driving blood into it's tip. This motion is often referred to as 'milking' in penis exercise routines. It is important to do this very slowly, taking at least 4-5 seconds for each sliding stroke.

As your hand nears the end of the shaft, grasp the base of the penis with your other hand using the same grip and release the hand that has reached the head. Perform the exact same milking procedure again, only this time with the opposite hand that is now near the base of the penis. As that hand reaches the tip of the penis, once again re-grasp the base with your free hand and release your grip on the hand that has reached the tip. This method follows a sort of 'pass over' system and should be easy to adopt with practice. Perform the entire cycle approximately 8 to 10 times for each hand.

The stimulation from this jelqing technique will force the cells within the penis to become engorged with blood. With adequate healing and recovery, these tissues will adapt to hold a greater volume of blood.

If you've never done this penis technique before, a certain amount of soreness should be expected. However, like any other type of exercise, your body will learn to adapt over time to the new stimulation.

As mentioned previously, there is always a risk of injury if these penis exercises are performed improperly or excessively. Professional guidance from a reputable source is always recommended. A natural exercise program, like the one from PenisHealth, provides excellent workout routines for both beginners and advanced users alike.
