Scientific studies have shown that low-intensity electrical shocks have the ability to trigger the growth of new blood vessels. New research suggests that this principal can be applied in the treatment of men suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) when the condition results from reduced blood flow to the penis (this accounts for nearly 80% of all ED cases). While this particular form of shockwave therapy may be ground-breaking, the underlying concept is one that is already well understood and applied by several natural enhancement therapies that utilize tissue stimulation as a method of treatment.

Shockwave Treatment For Erectile Dysfunction

According to an article recently published on the LiveScience website, researchers from the Rambam Medical Center located in Israel have uncovered a new technique for treating sufferers of erectile dysfunction. The treatment involves using an electrical device to deliver a "low energy" shock wave directly into the penis. As previously mentioned, this electrical bombardment has been demonstrated to effectively stimulate the development of new blood vessels.

With promising preliminary results – improvement was seen in 15 of 20 subjects – it may sound as if this "new" treatment represents an effective alternative to ED medications such as Viagra and Cialis. In reality, this specific form of therapy is one that is already employed by natural enhancement techniques that use stretching or traction force as their primary catalyst.

Soft Tissue Loading

Natural enhancement methods such as exercising the penis or using a penis extender device function by manipulating the soft tissues of the penis. The physical stimulation supplied by these techniques serves to promote tissue growth and improve blood circulation. This is accomplished in part by what is known as the "piezoelectric effect."

Piezoelectricity

The term piezoelectricity, meaning "pressure electricity", was first coined in the late 1800's by scientists researching crystalline structures. To grasp the importance of this effect you should understand that crystals are prevalent in all living tissues:

†"Crystalline arrangements are the rule in living tissue, not the exception. These crystals are piezoelectric, meaning they generate electric fields when compressed or stretched. When a bone or cartilage is compressed, or a tendon or ligament stretched, or when skin is stretched, electric pulsations are created. The colloidal gel component of soft tissue, which makes up the ground substance that embeds all of the connective tissue/collagen in the body, is influenced by electrical fields."

In other words, applying a physical force to the tissues of the body (in this case the penis) generates a natural electrical current. When the penis is massaged and stretched through specific exercises, or when it is subjected to a dynamic splinting force such as that provided by traction devices, the tissues themselves become energized and electrified.

"Proteins, nucleic acids and mucopolysaccharides, which compose all tissues of the human body, exhibit piezoelectric properties. This piezoelectrically induced current activates the healing processes in the stimulated area. Thus, this mechanically induced electrical energy has great regulatory effect on the cellular and molecular levels."

†Source: Piezoelectricity, a Healing Property of Soft Tissue

In essence, physically stimulating the penis with targeted exercises or exposing the soft tissues to a prolonged stretch creates a natural charge. This is all possible without the use of any external electrical devices whatsoever.

Artificial Shockwave Vs. Natural Electrical Field Generation

The electrical field generated by mechanical stimulation of the penis is of course much weaker than that created by an external shockwave device. It is however completely natural and carries none of the obvious risks associated with artificially electrocuting the penis. By manually stimulating the penis over an extended period of time, as opposed to subjecting it to an abrupt outside force, you achieve the benefits of electrical stimulation minus the danger of damaging sensitive tissues.

For now, artificial shockwave therapy for the treatment of erectile dysfunction remains in it's infancy. Further testing and results are forthcoming.

Although the research itself is interesting, I'm still amazed by the apparent disconnect that exists between science and the human condition. Modern western medicine insists on seeking "the cure" while completely disregarding the inherent healing properties of the body itself.

Natural Enhancement Therapy

If you are one of the millions of men suffering from ED, and you want to fix the problem yourself, know that there are tools available to help. Conditions like erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation can be cured without resorting to expensive pharmaceutical pills or other scientific gadgetry. The power to change exists within you.

To achieve longer lasting and more powerful erections, to increase the actual size of your penis itself, do yourself a favor and try a natural penis enhancement system that guarantees results. The solution from SizeGenetics combines penis exercising with a CE approved medical type 1 stretching device and is clinically proven to:

The inability to achieve or sustain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse, otherwise known as Erectile Dysfunction (ED), is a condition that is estimated to affect over 18 million men in the U.S. alone. While much research has been done in recent years to determine the underlying causes of erection problems, there has been little evidence to support a direct link between this condition and the size of a penis – that is, until now. A new study suggests that there may in fact be a direct correlation between penis size and erectile dysfunction.

Case Study

A study† recently published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine was conducted to determine the average stretched penis size in normal men compared with that of patients suffering from erectile dysfunction. The test group consisted of over one thousand subjects from a hospital outpatient clinic and contained both potent males and those suffering with ED. Using a tape measure and ruler, both penile length and girth in the fully stretched states were measured to determine average size.

Results

In the group of normal men with no symptoms of ED, it was determined that the average fully stretched length was 12.9 cm (+/- 1.9 cm) and the fully stretched girth was 8.9 cm (+/- 0.9 cm). In the group with ED patients, the average fully stretched penis length was 11.2 cm (+/- 1.5 cm) and fully stretched girth was 8.8 cm (+/- 0.8 cm).

Using the data compiled it can be seen that while girth measurements between the two groups were fairly consistent (only a 0.1 cm difference), the length differential was quite pronounced. Those men not suffering from erectile dysfunction were approximately 1.7 cm larger – or nearly .67 inches longer in size. These statistics suggest that men with ED tend to have significantly shorter penises than those without erection problems.

†Source: Comparing Penile Measurements in Normal and ED Subjects

Why Do Men with ED have Shorter Penises?

While the researchers themselves offer no suggestions as to why this discrepancy in size exists, I suspect it is tied to both physical and psychological reasons.

Physiologically speaking, the penis tends to shrink in size when it is not functioning properly. Without adequate and regular blood flow to the muscles, veins and arteries in and near the corpora cavernosa, the surrounding tissues of the penis breakdown and atrophy.

From a psychological perspective, this condition is further compounded as men who suffer from erectile dysfunction tend to avoid sexual intercourse and the necessary stimulation it provides. In essence they lack the motivation to have sex (understandably due to their condition) and therefore the penis is not stimulated on a regular basis. In other words, use it or lose it.

The findings from this study only helps to reinforce the importance of maintaining proper penis heath. Through proper exercise and the use of certified devices to treat ED, not only can men avoid problems like erectile dysfunction, they can also ensure that the size of their penis remains uncompromised.

The number of men using traction devices to increase the size of their penis grows every day. This is hardly surprising since most men will jump at the opportunity to add a few extra inches to their length and girth. What most don't realize however is that penile traction is also an incredibly effective method for combating sexual health problems like erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. Not only does penis traction give you the size your want, this special type of home treatment also helps prevent sexual dysfunction issues from occurring by ensuring that your penis operates at peak performance.

Sexual Health Issues

The sad fact of the matter is that nearly all men will at some point in their lives experience a sexual health issue. Whether it's a problem with controlling orgasm (premature ejaculation) or the inability to achieve and maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction), these sorts of issues continue to plague men of all ages and nationalities.

For some sufferers the root of sexual dysfunction is psychological in nature. Things such as depression, stress or lack of self-confidence can all contribute to problems with performance. Others however can attribute the problem to an actual physical condition.

Regardless of the cause, it is within the grasp of all men to avoid these issues by properly conditioning and strengthening the penis. The use of a medically proven penis traction device is one way to ensure that these problems disappear or never occur in the first place!

Penile Traction Devices

Just as the muscles of the body can be trained to become more muscular and firm, so too can the penis be conditioned to improve it's functioning. While the penis itself does not contain muscle, the soft tissues from which it is comprised are capable of being stretched and strengthened with proper stimulation. Not only can this regular training increase your size by up to 30%, it also results in increased blood flow, stronger erections and better ejaculation control.

Certified penis traction devices such as the one sold by SizeGenetics are specifically designed to provide for this type of stimulation and growth. Worn for approximately 2-4 hours per day, these devices help promote natural tissue growth using a traction method similar to that used by orthopedic surgeons.

The use of a traction device is one of the most effective and efficient ways to improve the overall health of your penis. For those suffering from conditions like erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, the traction method is a sure-fire solution to end sexual problems once and for all!

To my knowledge there have been no official studies performed to calculate the exact size of the male population suffering with this condition. Given the sensitivity of the subject, I'm not entirely certain that such a census could even be accurately conducted. There is however an unofficial study that was recently published in Men's Health magazine that attempts to rank the frequency of erectile dysfunction within 100 U.S. cities based on several specific factors.

Criteria for Ranking Erectile Dysfunction Frequency

To determine the likelihood of occurrence per city, the following criteria was examined:

The rates of three known risk factors – smoking, obesity and diabetes.

The percentage of the male population that performs regular exercise.

The number of urologists per capita.

The number of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra prescriptions filled.

Using this available information, the following table attempts to grade each city based on a scale of A through F.

While the preceding data is far from an exact representation of erectile dysfunction rates, it does give some general insight into the probability of occurence. It's also a sobering reminder of just how widespread this sexual affliction has become.

Most people falsely assume that erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition that only affects older men. While it's true that it does tend to become more prevalent with aging, this in no way rules out it's occurrence in men who are much younger. As a matter of fact, I personally experienced issues with ED when I was only in my early 20's. Although the cause of this condition can vary from one man to the next, there does exist both natural remedies and pharmaceutical treatments that can help to combat the problem.

A Symptom of the Mind or Body?

The source of erectile dysfunction disorders generally stems from two states, the psychological and the physiological condition. It is commonly thought that the primary basis for problems among younger men lies with psychological/mental issues; this is known as psychogenic ED. Older men with erectile dysfunction often have their problem attributed to actual biological functions, a condition called vasculogenic ED.

Generalized assumptions regarding the age of men and erectile dysfunction are not always correct however. For example, in one particular 5-year multi-institutional study recently published by BJU International, it was concluded:

"ED in teenagers should not be routinely categorized as psychogenic without an adequate vascular evaluation, as a significant percentage have abnormal erectile haemodynamics consistent with vasculogenic ED."

In other words, younger men can in fact suffer from the condition due to actual physical traits and not purely psychological issues. Ultimately, only a qualified physician will be able to determine the root cause.

Treatments: Pharmaceutical Drugs vs. Natural Therapy

In recent years, prescribed medicine has become the favored treatment for ED disorders. While pharmaceutical solutions such as Viagra and Cialis continue to grow in popularity, it should be understood that this method of treatment is not without risks. Most prescription drugs have many unwanted side effects including irregular heartbeat, headaches, nausea, runny or stuffy nasal passages, chest pains, and vision impairment.

As we start to better understand the true implications associated with a reliance on prescribed drugs, the futility of such short term solutions is becoming more and more apparent. Even traditional western medicine is beginning to embrace alternative natural treatment such as erectile dysfunction exercises (see Case Study on Pelvic Floor Exercises).

The specific exercise techniques used in natural erection therapy are far superior to ED drug treatment on a number of levels. Not only are they easy to perform and suitable for all age groups, their effects are also long term. Pills cannot technically be called a true solution since they only help for a short while. When Viagra is flushed from the system, the problem still continues to exist.

Erectile dysfunction can effectively become a thing of the past once a man has learned to gain control over his erection. This is possible since the body itself is strengthened and the root of the problem directly addressed. Although it does not work as quickly as popping a pill might, it also has no dangerous side effects either. The bottom line is the choice between a natural, safe and effective solution and a quick fix that's not really a solution at all.

The Natural Solution for Men of All Ages

While the exercises are not difficult to master, it is vital that you first learn how to properly perform them. I suggest a professional program such as the one supplied by PenisHealth. A typical workout routine requires less then 10 minutes per day to complete. These techniques have also been proven to actually enlarge both the length and thickness of the penis when performed regularly. Compared with ED drugs, it's also a very inexpensive way to solve erection problems.

Whether young or old, men of all ages can and will at some point experience problems with erections. Many might feel ashamed of their condition and be hesitant to discuss the problem with their doctor. You can however fix the problem naturally if you are willing to work towards a solution. The decision is entirely up to you.

Join the PenisHealth program today and get started on the road to a bigger, stronger and healthier penis!

The increasingly popular (albeit, somewhat controversial) natural aphrodisiac commonly known as 'horny goat weed' has returned to the headlines this month. Researchers from the University of Milan are now saying that there is some merit behind claims that the plant can be helpful as a treatment for male impotence. Before you rush out to stock up on a supply you should be aware that this is not the same stuff you'd find on the counter of your local convenience store. The production of a viable derivative is still under development and several years away from completion.

A Viable Viagra Alternative?

For those who have never heard of horny goat weed (officially Epimedium brevicornum), this plant gets it's peculiar name from the arousing effect it has on the animals which eat it. Studies have shown that the active ingredient in horny goat weed, a substance called icariin, inhibits the PDE5 enzyme which helps control the flow of blood to the penis thus promoting erection. This is the same process by which Viagra's active compound sildenafil works.

While sildenafil is 80 times more effective than icariin at inhibiting PDE5, researchers claim that a modified version will improve it's effectiveness to that on par with Viagra. It may also avoid some of the more common side effects associated with Viagra, specifically those related to heart and sight functions. As mentioned previously however, commercial availability may not be realized for as many as 10 years.

Natures Remedies

The effectiveness of plants like horny goat weed and Safed Musli in treating sexual dysfunction is no secret in traditional remedies. The use of such ingredients has in fact been a staple in herbal medicine for many different cultures over the millennia.

Even the compounds found in some popular contemporary male enhancement formulas rely on the natural properties of herbs to enact change at both the physiological and psychological levels.

Still, we has a long way to go before finding a permanent cure for erectile dysfunction. Science is just beginning to research and better understand all of the complexities involved with this specific disorder. It is heartening however to see some progress being made in the fight against this condition which impacts so many, particularly when the source comes from nature itself.

Look out Viagra and Cialis. Move over ProSolution Pills. Say goodbye penis exercises! According to a study coming out of Japan there's a new way of alleviating erectile dysfunction problems that comes from a most unlikely source… comedy! That's right, apparently the age old expression 'laughter is the best medicine' may also apply to men who are suffering from ED due to stress related complications. In this article we'll examine the findings and determine whether this is a legitimate solution or just more pointless academic research.

The Physiological/Psychological Connection

It is a widely known fact that mood plays an important role in proper sexual functioning. If a person is experiencing stress or anxiety, it is very likely that the effects will have both a psychological and physiological impact. For men this often translates to lowered testosterone levels and frequent bouts with sexual dysfunction.

Recently a controlled test was performed by researchers from the Moriguchi-Keijinkai Hospital in Japan to determine the effect of watching humorous films on men suffering with erectile dysfunction.

Background

The study consisted of 36 men diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis (AD) – a chronic inflammatory skin disorder often characterized by eczema. Previous research indicated that the symptoms of this condition were exacerbated when patients experienced elevated stress levels. It was also found that many AD patients also suffered from erectile dysfunction (ED). Since prior studies had determined that watching humorous movies helped alleviate the symptoms associated with AD, a new test was commissioned to determine if this type of treatment would have a similar beneficial effect on ED.

The Study

The participants were split into two groups of 18 men and their wives. The first group viewed one comedy per day for three consecutive days. The films included The Best Bits of Mr. Bean, Modern Times and There's Something About Mary. Participants were then instructed to have sex on the following 4 days after viewing. After two weeks they viewed three non-humorous films over the course of three days that featured various weather information. Again they were asked to perform intercourse on the following 4 days. The second group of 18 men followed the exact same criteria except in reverse order – they first viewed non-humorous control films and then after 2 weeks they viewed the humorous films. Samples of blood were taken from the participants prior to viewing the films as well as during each of the days they were instructed to have intercourse.

The Results

Those viewing humorous films experienced a significant increase in sexual hormone levels while those watching the non-humorous control movies experienced no improvement whatsoever. Hormones like testosterone are linked to erectile and orgasmic functioning as well as sexual desire and intercourse satisfaction. Elevated hormone levels therefore have a direct impact on erectile dysfunction problems.

Conclusion

Mr. Bean can fix your penis! Well no, not really. The researchers are quick to point out that the effects are short-lived and last only a few days. They also acknowledge that the improvement may be specific to those suffering from AD as those patients tend to be highly vulnerable to stress. That however may not entirely be true as the researchers state:

"…our preliminary study indicates that viewing humorous films on three consecutive days also improves psychogenic ED in subjects without AD…"

So technically the jury is still out and further tests are needed to confirm their initial findings. I personally don't hold out much hope for this being a viable ED cure. Comedies can certainly help take your mind off of problems and this will reduce stress levels. Stress is, after all, a killer; both in everyday life as well as in the bedroom. Anything you can do to reduce stress is certainly a worthwhile endeavor. I'm just not certain watching funny movies is the way to go about it. Erectile dysfunction itself is no laughing matter for the millions of men suffering worldwide.

Published studies have indicated that men who ride bicycles for 3 or more hours per week face an increased risk of developing erectile dysfunction. Although bicycling has long been considered an excellent form of exercise, it's important that men take the proper precautions to ensure they are not putting their sexual health at risk. In this article we'll examine the reason why cycling can lead to problems such as impotence and discuss a few ways to help minimize the danger.

E.D. Linked to Standard Bicycle Seats

The main cause of the problem seems to lie in the construction of the traditional bicycle seat itself. Most common saddles feature a long protruding nose that extends outward from between the legs. Resting on this type of seat puts undue pressure on the perineum, the area located between the genital and anus, which can result in urogenital paresthesia and sexual dysfunction. The blood vessels, nerves and arteries that pass through the perineum are largely responsible for regulating sexual and erectile functioning.

Taking the Pressure Off

Reducing pressure on the perineum while biking is the key to alleviating the problem. One way of accomplishing this is to change the type of seat that is used. There are now a number of different seats that are designed for just this purpose.

Cutaway Saddles

This type of seat has the center portion cut out. This helps to take pressure off of the soft tissue areas and instead allows weight to be transferred to the bones.

Noseless Saddles

Another bike seat variation is called the 'noseless' saddle. The ergonomical form of this seat is designed to remove pressure from the perineum. A recently published report by the Journal of Sexual Medicine involving a study of bicycle police officers has helped to confirm the effectiveness of this design:

"With few exceptions, bicycle police officers were able to effectively use no-nose saddles in their police work… Use of no-nose saddles reduced most perineal pressure… Penile health improved after 6 month using no-nose saddles as measured by biothesiometry and IIEF."

Additional Preventive Measures

Even if you're not ready to make the switch to a new seat, there are still a few things you can do to help improve seat comfort and prevent excessive pressure on the sensitive soft tissues.

Ensure that your seat height is adjusted properly. If it is too high you will tend to shift your weight from side to side which can result in perineal irritation.

Positioning the seat nose on a slightly downward forward angle will help to alleviate pressure on the soft tissues. Make sure not to tip it too far forward or you may experience lower back pain and hand numbness due to excessive weight on the wrists and hands.

You may also want to try angling the seat either slightly left or right as opposed to aligning it directly forward.

Be sure to stand up once in a while and adjust your riding position periodically.

Always take a short break if you experience tingling or numbness.

You don't have to be Lance Armstrong to enjoy the many health benefits of bicycling. Besides being an excellent cardiovascular workout and muscle strengthener, bicycling is also just plain fun! Remember that while it's a good idea to exercise and stay in shape, always make sure you're not doing it at the expense of your sexual health.

In recent years, great strides have been made in the battle against Erectile Dysfunction (ED). While the most publicized of remedies often involves prescription drugs, other less invasive (and less costly) treatments have also been shown to be highly effective. In fact, case studies have proven that certain natural techniques such as 'pelvic floor exercises' can help to both prevent and reverse erectile dysfunction problems. Here we'll look at one particular study conducted to examine the role of pelvic floor muscle exercises in restoring erectile function.

This specific study entitled 'Pelvic floor exercises for erectile dysfunction' was conducted at the Somerset Nuffield Hospital located in the United Kingdom. It included 55 men split into two groups – the 'control' group and the 'intervention' group.

The control group consisted of men who were advised of certain lifestyle changes. These included reducing alcohol consumption, quitting smoking and losing weight… in general, living a more healthy lifestyle. The intervention group was also advised of these lifestyle changes but in addition were taught pelvic floor exercises to be performed on a regular basis.

RESULTS

"After 3 months, the erectile function of men in the intervention group was significantly better than in the control group (P < 0.001). Control patients who were given the intervention also significantly improved 3 months later (P < 0.001). After 6 months, blind assessment showed that 40% of men had regained normal erectile function, 35.5% improved but 24.5% failed to improve."

CONCLUSION

"This study suggests that pelvic floor exercises should be considered as a first-line approach for men seeking long-term resolution of their erectile dysfunction."

While the researchers were a bit surprised by the lack of improvement in the group following lifestyle changes only, it is possible that it simply takes more time for such changes to show positive effects. Removing unhealthy practices such as smoking and excessive drinking are still certainly excellent suggestions for any man to consider.

Ultimately the findings from this study show that pelvic floor muscle exercises do indeed improve erectile function. As someone who has personally incorporated these techniques into my own daily exercise regimen, I can certainly vouch for their effectiveness. Not only do they help to improve erection hardness and strength, with enough practice they also bring about greater control and increase sexual stamina.

If you'd like to learn how to perform these and other types of exercises, head on over to PenisHealth. Their program includes over 300 videos and photos designed to teach you proper technique. Many of the exercises you will learn also work to naturally increase the overall size (length and thickness) of the penis itself.

Millions of men around the world suffer from weak and small erections. In recent years a greater awareness of this problem has led to a boom in pharmaceutical drugs like Viagra and Cialis. Unfortunately these erectile dysfunction medications provide only temporary relief and are not, in and of themselves, a true cure. Effectively fighting impotence over the long-term means understanding that the penis needs to be naturally stimulated in order to remain vibrant and healthy.

A phrase that occasionally comes to mind when discussing penis related problems is, "use it or lose it." Like other parts of the body, the penis tends to shrink and atrophy when it is not being used. The obvious paradox here is that those with erection problems are not getting adequate stimulation as a direct result of this problem. Trying to have sex more often is usually neither practical nor, in many cases, even possible.

While this is somewhat of a dilemma, there is no reason why men cannot themselves increase the healthy functioning of their own penises through methods of erection therapy. In basic terms, this simply means manually stimulating the penis on a regular basis using specially designed techniques.

Erection therapy, however, should not be confused with masturbation. While there are some masturbation techniques that can help teach better control, such as edging, the practices we are referring to here are not for self-pleasure but rather exercises designed to promote better penile functioning.

One of the primary goals of this type of therapy is to improve circulation within the penis and increase the overall volume of blood that is held within the erectile tissue. It is after all the engorgement of blood within these tissues that is directly responsible for producing the erect state.

In addition to creating a better circulatory environment and healthier erectile tissues, the surrounding musculature also needs to be enhanced. The pubococcygeus muscle (PC muscle) for example plays a vital role in erection control. This muscle can be strengthened and trained in order to increase the duration that erections can be maintained.

Other muscles, such as the bulbo-cavernous and ischio-cavernous, are directly related to the structure and thickness of the penis. These two sheets of muscle wrap around the shaft of the penis much like the belts on a radial tire. When pumped and contracted they add rigidity and thickness to the penile shaft. Just as with any other voluntary muscles, these can be exercised and both their strength and size improved.

Incorporating a program of penis enhancement exercises into your normal routine is fairly simple and the benefits are enormous. They can help with problems ranging from weak erections and impotence to premature ejaculation. Ultimately they work to enhance the entire sexual experience and restore confidence in your performance.

For more information on where you can learn about these techniques, please see the Penis Exercise Program Comparisons. These programs are inexpensive, safe and most importantly, effective.

While sex can and should be pleasurable, it's also a very strenuous activity. Being prepared for the experience with the best functioning equipment possible is always in your best interest.
