The act of body piercing is often thought to be a 20th century invention. In truth, it has been performed for thousands of years in numerous cultures around the world. One of the more exotic forms of this style of body modification includes the practice of penis piercing. While the reasons why men choose to adorn their genitals can range from a simple fashion statement to supposed sexual enhancement benefits, it does raise some issues regarding their compatibility with penis enlargement practices.

Natural methods of penis enlargement, whether they involve using penis supplements, enhancement patches or specialized devices, all call for a certain amount of 'hands-on' control. These manual exercises include all manner of stretching, milking and squeezing of the penis to provide stimulation and promote growth.

Even the use of equipment such as penis traction devices require some direct manipulation to ensure the penis is properly secured and aligned. For the large majority of men, the application of these techniques is simple and direct. This can be somewhat of a different story for those who have foreign objects protruding from their member.

Before we examine some of the various types of penis piercing styles and their implications on penis enlargement training, it should be mentioned that there are in fact many pierced men who do practice natural enlargement routines. It certainly requires that more attention be paid during sessions. Let's not forget that intercourse itself is quite stressing on the penis and these men seemingly have no difficulty in having sex.

Different Types of Penis Piercings

While little is actually known about the styles and methods employed by ancient practitioners, modern penis piercing techniques can range from simple to extremely intricate. Here are just a few of the different variations used by men today.

Pubic Piercing

Pubic piercing [Fig. 1] is performed at the base of the penis where it connects to the body. This type of piercing is often cited as a means to enhance stimulation of the female clitoris during sex.

Because of the placement of this piercing, it generally does not have an impact on enlargement practices.

Ampallang

The ampallang [Fig. 2], also known as a 'pallang', consists of a barbell-like piercing that penetrates the penis head horizontally and runs perpendicular to the urethra. In some cases two barbells are inserted in a 'double ampallang' [Fig. 3] configuration.

As this particular piercing is located away from the area where most training occurs, namely the penile shaft itself, it usually does not pose a problem for penis enlargement users.

Apadravya

The apadravya [Fig. 4] is the vertical equivalent of the ampallang. This method typically has the barbell traverse the head of the penis from top to bottom. If it is inserted through the body of the penis itself it is then called the 'shaft' or 'deep apadravya' [Fig. 5].

When inserted directly beneath the glans, it should not cause significant issues for most penis enlargement techniques. Placing it directly through the body of the penis can however impede certain stretching practices.

Prince Albert

One of the better-known penis piercings goes by the name 'Prince Albert' [Fig. 6]. This piercing consists of a ring that goes through the urethral opening and exits on the underside of the penis head. When the ring is reversed and exits through the top of the glans, it is called a 'Reverse Prince Albert' [Fig. 7].

Similar to the previous 'basic apadravya' style, this method should have minimum impact on enlargement routines.

Foreskin Ring

The foreskin ring [Fig. 8] is probably one of the more common penis piercings. In most cases the circular ring is simply threaded through the uncircumcised foreskin on one or both sides of the penis.

Care should be taken during certain milking techniques as the foreskin is very sensitive and can be easily irritated.

Dydoe

Dydoes [Fig. 9] are piercings that are inserted through the coronal ridge. They can involve either a single piercing or multiple piercings [Fig. 10] which encircle the head of the penis.

The majority of penis exercises can still be performed with special attention paid to the long downward strokes. It may interfere with certain penis extender designs that use a noose-like enclosure. Penis extenders that use 'comfort-strap' technology are recommended. For more information see "The Different Types Of Penis Extenders".

Frenum

Frenum [Fig. 11] is the term given to piercings of the frenulum (the elastic band of tissue located under the penis head). If the frenum is repeated down the underside length of the penis it is called a 'frenum ladder' [Fig. 12]. When it repeats on the opposite side (top of the penile shaft), it is known as 'jacobs ladder'.

While a single piercing done at the frenulum is manageable for most penis enlargement methods, multiple rows of barbells is obviously quite a different case. Horizontal stretching motions, particularly those that require deep milking of both the flaccid and erect penis are almost impossible. Aside from completely removing the piercings prior to training, those men with this type of piercings are certainly going to have a difficult time with their training.

Final Thoughts

In all honesty, I really don't see the attraction in the practice of penis and genital piercing. That's just my personal opinion. To be fair, I also don't like to wear jewelry, watches or any other type of bodily adornment.

For me, the penis is a beautiful extension of our masculinity and the focus should always remain on improving it's strength and size. Clean, pristine and powerful, that's my philosophy… call me old fashioned!

Late mention: I have been informed by several advanced penis piercing practitioners that penis enlargement training is indeed possible, even for those with intricate frenum 'ladder-type' configurations.

The general consensus seems to indicate that while some penis exercises are difficult to perform properly, this does not preclude the use of penis extender devices that keep the penis stretched in a suspended position. As if SizeGenetics needed another reason for being the top-rated penis enlargement system available today! Great news, thanks guys!

Research conducted by the British Journal of Urology seems to support that sexual pleasure experienced by females varies depending upon whether the male partner is circumcised or uncircumcised. In fact, compiled data strongly suggests that women tend to prefer vaginal intercourse with an anatomically complete penis over that with a circumcised penis. Fortunately for those of us who are 'non-anatomically complete' (i.e. circumcised), all hope is not lost. By understanding the mechanism and triggers behind sexual stimulation, we can actually learn from our uncut brethren new methods for increasing our partner's pleasure.

Facts About Circumcision

Before we delve into the science behind these findings, we should first understand the implications behind circumcision and just how far reaching they are. Circumcision is an operation that removes up to 50% of the penile skin and nearly all of the penile fine-touch neuroreceptors. It is the most commonly performed surgery in the United States and it is estimated that nearly 70% of the U.S. male population is currently circumcised. While the necessity of this surgery has been contested for decades, new research into the effects this procedure has on the act of sex itself has fueled even further debate.

The British Journal of Urology Study

As previously mentioned, results have clearly shown that the majority of women cite greater sexual pleasure during intercourse with an uncircumcised male. But what are the reasons for this? The following conclusions were based on a BJU survey (Adobe PDF 75kb) developed to determine the effect of male circumcision on a woman's ability to achieve vaginal orgasm:

"When the anatomically complete penis thrusts in the vagina, it does not slide, but rather glides on its own 'bedding' of movable skin… The underlying corpus cavernosa and corpus spongiosum slide within the penile skin, while the skin juxtaposed against the vaginal wall moves very little. This shealth-with-a-shealth alignment allows penile movement, and vaginal and penile stimulation, with minimal friction or loss of secretions. When the penile shaft is withdrawn slightly from the vagina, the foreskin bunches up behind the corona in a manner that allows the tip of the foreskin, which contains the highest density of fine-touch neuroreceptors in the penis, to contact the corona of the glans, which has the highest concentration of fine-touch neuroreceptors on the glans. This intense stimulation discourages the penile shaft from further withdrawal, explaining the short-thrusting style that women noted in their unaltered partners."

Take note of the 'short-thrusting style' mentioned, as this is a key element to increasing pleasure levels. The report goes on to say:

"…circumcision removes 33-50% of the penile skin. With this skin missing, there is less tissue for the swollen corpus cavernosa and corpus spongiosum to slide against. Instead, the skin of the circumcised penis rubs against the vaginal wall, increasing friction, abrasion and the need for artificial lubrication. Because of the tight penile skin, the corona of the glans, which is configured as a one-way valve, pulls the vaginal secretions out of the vagina when the shaft is withdrawn. Unlike the anatomically complete penis, there is no sensory input to limit withdrawal. Because the vast majority of the fine-touch receptors are missing from the circumcised penis, their role as ejaculatory triggers is also absent. The loss of these receptors creates an imbalance between the deep pressure sensed in the glans, corpus cavernosa and corpus spongiosum and the missing fine-touch. To compensate for this imbalance, to achieve orgasm, the circumcised man must stimulate the glans, corpus cavernosa and corpus spongiosum by thrusting deeply in and out of the vagina. As a result, coitus with a circumcised partner reduces the amount of vaginal secretions in the vagina, and decreases continual stimulation of the mons pubis and clitoris."

Understanding The Implications

Based on these findings, it can be understood that the actual mechanics of coitus (sexual intercourse) differs between circumcised and uncircumcised men due to the lack of penile neuroreceptors. Circumcised men without these fine-touch receptors tend to thrust harder and deeper using elongated strokes. By comparison, uncircumcised men tend to use shorter and more gentle thrusts which keep more contact with the mons pubis and clitoris. This method, at least for a large majority of women, seems to convey a much more pleasurable experience.

So what can we learn from this as circumcised men? Aside from undergoing risky and expensive foreskin restoration surgery, we are pretty much stuck with what we have. We can however take steps to improve the level of pleasure that is experienced by both ourselves and our partners.

Tips For Circumcised Men

As we tend to use longer thrusts for maximum stimulation, and this action creates both friction and dryness within the vagina, using adequate lubrication is a must. A natural lubricant like Durex or Astroglide will help ensure that the vagina stays moist and any discomfort will be minimized.

Perhaps even more importantly, we can directly modify the method that we use during intercourse itself. From personal experience I can attest that shorter thrusts while at full penetration seems to illicit the greatest pleasure response in women. Instead of withdrawing the full length of the penis during thrusts, try pushing fully into the vagina and use short strokes while maintaining pressure upon the clitoris. This technique will stimulate the entire female genital region and is the most effective way to induce orgasm (both single and multiple).

Pleasurable sex is, of course, not limited to one method alone. It should be comprised of a variety of different techniques – experimentation is half the fun. Let's also not forget that the pleasure derived is not solely for our partner's benefit but for ours as well. There's a reason why circumcised men tend to use longer and more forceful thrusts… because it feels good! So mix it up! There is no limit to the amount of pleasure that sex can bring. The only limitation that exists is our knowledge of the act and this can be improved with both study and practice.

All men are born with a layer of skin that covers the tip of the penis (glans), called the foreskin or prepuce. At birth, this foreskin serves to shield and protect the delicate glans which can be easily irritated by urine and feces. Males that have this covering of skin removed are referred to as circumcised and those that do not are called uncircumcised. While the decision to circumcise a male depends on many factors including the parent's preference, religion, and geographic location, the need to clean and care for an uncircumcised penis remains vitally important for overall penis health.

When men reach puberty, specialized sebaceous glands located under the foreskin, known as Tyson's Glands, begin to produce an oily substance. This substance when mixed with shed skin cells constitutes what is called "adult smegma". While smegma serves a protective, lubricating function for the glans, a build-up of this material can also release a strong smelling unpleasant odor.

Fortunately, cleaning an uncircumcised penis is a very simple process. After reaching adolescence, uncircumcised men should retract, or pull back, the foreskin and clean underneath it on a daily basis. There is no need for special cleansing with Q-tips or antiseptics as soap and water is sufficient. The following steps explain how to properly cleanse the foreskin:

Using very gentle force, pull the foreskin away from the tip of the penis.

Rinse both the tip of the penis and the inside part of the foreskin with soap and water.

Return the foreskin back to it's original position over the tip of the penis.

This procedure should be done as part of a daily hygiene routine to keep the penis clean and in good health.

Practicing good sexual hygiene is very easy and only involves a few minutes of time each day.

For uncircumcised men, cleaning the penis should be done by starting at the tip of the penis and pulling the foreskin back as far as possible in order to expose the glans. Gently wash both the glans and the inner part of the foreskin with lukewarm water. Remember that the penis is one of the most sensitive parts of the male body so make sure you don't use water that is too hot. Take care to clean the area between the glans and the foreskin as this is the area where the white substance known as smegma forms.

Smegma consists of skin oils, dead epithelial cells shed by the tissues of the penis, accumulated moisture and bacteria. Because bacteria thrives in isolated warm places with plenty of moisture, it is very important to keep the area under the foreskin free of debris. A build up of bacteria and dead tissue cells under the foreskin will produce a very pungent and not at all pleasant odor. There is also a greater likelihood of infection in an area of accumulated sweat, dirt and bacteria.

Men that are circumcised must also pay close attention to personal hygiene. Many doctors believe that removing the protective foreskin leaves the glans exposed to various bacteria that cause infections of the urinary tract. Others maintain that the foreskin essentially traps smegma and dirt and so actually increases the risk of infection.

While this ongoing debate as to whether removing the foreskin is actually more hygienic continues, the fact that the penis must be kept clean of debris is without question. Practicing good sexual hygiene will keep your penis healthy and ensure that your sexual relationships do not suffer.

The practice of removing some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis is called circumcision. The word circumcision itself comes from two Latin words; circum (meaning "around") and caedere (meaning "to cut"). Although usually thought of as pertaining to males, circumcision is also sometimes associated with females and refers to a variety of procedures performed on the female genitalia. Circumcision is usually performed for religious, cultural, and medical reasons. In some cases, elective adult circumcision is performed for body modification or aesthetic reasons.

The oldest records of circumcision being performed date back to ancient Egypt. It was also widely used by Semitic peoples, Greeks and Romans, although it was not considered mandatory and some people rejected the practice.

Currently, Judaism and Islam are the leading religions that see circumcision as a mandatory practice for their followers, although Judaism attaches a greater religious significance to the act. Unless there are health reasons that force a delay, all Jewish male children are circumcised eight days after their birth. While some Islamic communities also observe the eighth day practice of Judaism, many clerics are less formal about the exact time of circumcision. One difference between the two religious practices is that Jewish males are circumcised by a religious figure called "mohel", while in modern Muslim communities like Iran, male children have circumcision performed in hospitals.

Although members of the Coptic Christian and Ethiopian Orthodox churches still observe circumcision as mandatory, the Roman Catholic Church rejected this practice at the Council of Florence in 1442.

Used as a sort of passage rite for young males, circumcision is also very common in a number of African and Australian Aboriginal religious traditions. Sometimes circumcision represents a removal of the "feminine" aspects of the male as seen in some West African groups such as the Dogon and Dowayo. Other West Africans, like the Nilotic people, hold periodical circumcision ceremonies that are used to group young males in age sets.

The only countries that still practice circumcision routinely on a majority of their male population for non-religious reasons are the United States, the Philippines and South Korea. The practice in South Korea is largely the result of American cultural and military influence following the Korean War.

Natural penis enlargement programs that include specific exercises and techniques to enlarge the penis are some of the best methods to come out of the large and not always reliable male enhancement market. With the slow movement towards mainstream recognition, dishonest companies offering useless and sometimes harmful products are being weeded out and legitimate vendors are becoming more popular every day. Men who found themselves resigned to an inadequate manhood are now finding a variety of techniques and products available to help improve their penis size.

While this is good news for all men, it should be noted that not everyone is able to perform the exercises as they were meant to be performed. Penis enlargement exercises are generally designed for the average male and in some instances a man may find that his particular situation does not fit that category. If you find yourself in this position and wish to learn how to overcome a specific problem you have found when performing exercises then hopefully this will help. Below is a list of tips and answers for three major problems that men sometimes face while performing penis exercises.

Some men have very small penises and getting even an average length penis would be a great improvement. Unfortunately a very small penis makes some exercises and stretches very difficult to perform. For these men it is a chore getting through the exercises and dealing with awkward movements at least until they start to grow and gain some length. One option for this type of situation is to use a special traction device. These devices are designed to operate hands-free and can help increase size gains in a much faster time period. Another option is to adapt the exercises to their situation, such as modifying your grip during stretching to use two fingers instead of the entire hand.

Men who are uncircumcised are another group that sometimes face problems when performing certain exercises. Since the foreskin can get in the way of both jelqing and stretching, special attention must be paid while performing these exercises. If enough lubrication is applied, jelqs can be performed by uncircumcised men without a problem. One hand should also be placed at the base of the penis to help hold the skin back. To get a better grip for stretching it is also advisable to use baby powder or a thin piece of tissue paper for extra traction.

Finally, some men find that their busy schedules just don't afford the time for daily penis enlargement exercises. This is actually a very common problem since busy lifestyles leave little room for anything else besides work and relaxation. This is the primary reason why many men who start penis enlargement programs end up quitting. Free time is not always easy to find but if you're really interested in enlarging your penis then its important to make time. This can be as easy as waking up 30 minutes earlier than usual to perform the enlargement exercises or even adding them to your current schedule by doing them while relaxing in front of the television.

Anyone can run into difficulties while performing penis enlargement routines but with a bit of patience and commitment these obstacles can be removed. It's all about willpower and desire and if you are dedicated enough you can solve your problems and achieve your goals.

The penis is the external male organ associated with both sex and urination. It is composed of three columns of erectile tissue and relies on the engorgement of blood to reach the erect state.

The erectile tissues are divided into two groups named the "corpus spongiosum" and "corpus cavernosum." The corpus spongiosum is the single column that lies on the underside of the penis. The other two colums, the corpora cavernosa, are positioned next to each other on the upper side of the penis. The glans penis, located at the end of the corpus spongiosum is the part that is enlarged and cone-shaped. The glans supports the foreskin (also called prepuce), which is the loose fold of skin that can retract to expose the glans. The area on the underside of the penis, where the foreskin is attached, is called the frenum.

The urethra, which is the final destination of the urinary tract, traverses the corpus spongiosum. It's opening, known as the "meatus", lies on the tip of the glans penis. The urethra serves as both a passage for urine and for the ejaculation of semen. Sperm is produced within the testes and stored in the attached epididymis.

During ejaculation, sperm is propelled up the vas deferens, the two ducts that pass over and behind the bladder. Fluids are added by the seminal vesicles and the vas deferens turns into the ejaculatory ducts, which join the urethra inside the prostate gland. The prostate and the bulbourethral glands add further secretions, and the resulting semen is expelled through the penis.

The last feature of the penis is called the "raphe." This is the visible ridge between the lateral halves of the penis. It is found on the underside of the penis and runs from the meatus (opening of the urethra) across the scrotum and to the perineum (area between scrotum and anus).
