Penis enlargement surgery, commonly referred to as phalloplasty in the medical community, is not only a risky procedure but also a very expensive one. The actual cost of penis surgery will vary from one surgeon to the next with the price mostly depending on the exact type of operation being performed. In this article we'll examine some of the more common penis enlargement surgical procedures available today and discuss the various costs and risks associated with each.

Upfront Costs and Liability Waivers

Before we get to the pricing for individual penis enlargement procedures, it's important to understand that there will usually be some non-refundable fees that must be paid upfront. These can include an initial consultation fee (average cost $250) plus the costs involved with gaining medical clearance through preoperative testing such as x-rays, EKGs and blood tests.

Assuming the results come back OK and you're cleared to undergo a surgical procedure, you'll then need to agree and accept preoperatively (before surgery) that you've reviewed the recommended surgical technique and understand the associated consequences such as scarring, bleeding, infection and the need for postoperative management (follow-up care).

You'll also need to confirm that you understand the side effects of penis enlargement surgery which include temporary swelling, discomfort, bruising and possibly numbness. Penis swelling and bruising can often last for up to 2 or 3 weeks and changes in sensitivity as long as 8 to 12 weeks. Other possible side effects include shortening of the penis, a reduction in the upward erect angle of the penis, skin incision separation and erectile dysfunction.

It's usually recommended that patients avoid strenuous physical activity for 2 weeks and abstain from sexual intercourse for up to 6 weeks after surgery. Surgeons generally advise the use of a penis traction device beginning at 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure which helps to maximize the results as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that traction devices have also been shown to gradually increase penis size over time without the need for surgery.

Penis Enlargement Financing

As already mentioned, penis enlargement procedures can be very expensive. The cost of these procedures must be paid in full prior to having the enlargement surgery. Since health insurance does not cover cosmetic surgery procedures, and this includes penis enlargement, you will most likely need to obtain separate financing.

Just as when qualifying for any loan, you'll need to display an established credit history with a good rating (no missed or late payments). Some medical institutions offer their own financing to patients with credit limits from $500 to $25,000, if qualified.

Now let's examine some of the specific procedures performed as well as their individual costs.

Surgical Penile Length Enhancement

The first type of cosmetic penis surgery we'll look at is length enhancement. As the name implies, this procedure is aimed at increasing the overall length of the penis. This is accomplished by severing the ligament that anchors the penis to the body. Because a portion of the penis is actually hidden within the body, cutting the suspensory ligament allows it drop outward and exposes more of the shaft.

This procedure does not actually lengthen the penis but rather uncovers more of it which gives the appearance of more length. Since the ligament is responsible for the upward pointing angle of a normal erection, severing it also means that the penis will no longer stand straight up and instead will point forward or downward when erect.

The average cost of this type of surgery is between $3,500 and $5,000.

Surgical Penile Girth Enhancement

The next type of procedure we'll discuss is girth enhancement – this involves increasing the width or thickness of the penis. It's usually accomplished by either injecting fat cells harvested from one part of the body into the penis or by using skin grafts.

Liposuction

The first method uses liposuction to transfer fat from one area of the body to the penis. Fat cells are often taken from the abdomen, thighs or buttocks and injected into the penis to increase thickness.

Unfortunately the results of penis widening by liposuction are frequently not permanent and can lead to complications. Usually only about 30 percent of the fat injected into the penis survives after one year, the rest is reabsorbed back into the body. The injected fat may also shift which can cause the penis to appear uneven. Repeat injections are often needed to fill in these defects.

Skin Grafts

The second method, the graft technique, involves transplanting small strips of skin and fat onto the penis. Sometimes these donor grafts are taken from your own body (dermal fat grafts) and other times from the body of a dead person (Alloderm grafts).

One disadvantage of dermal fat grafts are that they leave large and unsightly scars where the tissue was removed. The grafts can also pull loose from the penis or actually shrink.

Alloderm grafts on the other hand do not involve scarring since the tissue is not taken from your own body but instead from a cadaver (a dead person). Sometimes however the foreign tissue is rejected by the body and the procedure will fail.

Penis girth enhancement is more complicated than length enhancement and therefore more expensive. In general it can cost anywhere between $5,000 and $8,500.

Additional Surgeries

After the enlargement procedure is finished and enough time has passed to allow for healing, some men may decide that additional surgery is necessary to improve the look of the penis. For instance, one unfortunate side effect of girth enhancement is that the penis head will appear smaller once the shaft has been thickened. To make the penis seem uniform in size requires another surgery (glans enlargement) which usually entails a skin graft. The average cost for this type of surgery is approximately $4,000.

Men are also sometimes unhappy with the scarring left behind from certain procedures. These flaws can be somewhat improved through the use of laser skin resurfacing which can cost between $2,500 and $3,500.

Other Costs and Considerations

As we've seen, the cost of penis enlargement surgery can run between $3,500 and $8,500 for each independent procedure. Many surgeons do offer "specials" where they will give a discount if both operations (length and girth enhancement) are performed at the same time. Discounts of this type can range anywhere from $7,000 to $10,000 for combined procedures.

There may be additional costs above and beyond the surgeons fee that aren't factored in to the pricing so it's important to check what exactly is covered.

Possible Additional Fees

anesthesia fee

operating and recovery room costs

assistant fee

related surgical supplies

post-surgery pain medication

followup care

A Better and Cheaper Alternative to Penis Surgery

Men who are considering penis enlargement surgery usually share two things in common: 1) They have money to spare and aren't concerned with price, and 2) They are willing to take risks even if it means that they may cause irreparable damage to their penis.

For the vast majority of men, penis enlargement surgery is simply too expensive and not worth the risk. In my opinion it makes no sense to endanger the functioning of your penis and spend thousands of dollars in the process just because you are too impatient to practice a safe and alternative method of enlargement.

Putting aside all obvious safety issues and looking at it purely from a financial standpoint, penis surgery will likely cost in the neighborhood of at least $3,500 and all the way up to $15,000 depending on what procedures are performed. On the other hand, a penis traction device will run between $200 and $400 for one that is well-constructed and durable.

Let's look at a price comparison between using a penis traction device and undergoing penis enlargement surgery:

Penis Enlargement Surgery (low estimates)
Consultation Fee: $250.00
Length Enhancement: $3,500.00
Girth Enhancement: $5,000.00
Glans Enlargement: $4,000.00
Total: $12,750.00

Penis Enlargement Traction System (from SizeGenetics™)
Traction Device Only: $199.95
SG Ultimate System Package*: $190.00
Total: $389.95

*Optional package includes 16 way comfort system, penis exercise DVD and instructions, moisturizer cream, traction powder, carrying case, spare parts and more – see full details here.

For those men who are insistent on undergoing penis enlargement surgery, do yourself a favor… order a penis traction device first and use it for just a few months before you make any firm decision about getting a procedure done. The SizeGenetics™ System even comes with a full 6 month guarantee which means it won't cost you a dime if you're not happy with the results. There's a good chance that you won't need surgery after all and you'll have avoided danger and saved yourself a lot of money at the same time!

There has always been a lot of controversy regarding penis enlargement and the various methods that reportedly allow a man to increase his size naturally. Do these methods work? Are they safe? These are the types of questions that men interested in penis enlargement often ask. One article recently published in an online medical journal helps provide answers by examining some of the more popular techniques in use today. The conclusion reached, with specific regard to penis traction devices, is "Yes, they do work!" The ability to physically enlarge the penis without any type of surgical procedure is a FACT.

BJU International

Before we get to the article itself, let's learn a little about the source. Formerly known as the British Journal of Urology, the BJUI was first established in 1929 and covers the field of urology. Urology is the medical and surgical specialty that focuses on the urinary tracts of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males.

The BJUI publishes peer-reviewed papers on urological oncology, evidence-based medicine, sexual medicine, laparoscopic and robotic urology, upper and lower urinary tract, reconstructive, pediatric, and investigative urology. It is the official journal of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, The Urological Society of India, and The Caribbean Urological Association.

Why am I spending time talking about the BJUI? Aside from the fact that you should always know the source of information, I want to make it clear that this is no crack-pot organization. Membership is composed of Doctors, Surgeons, Scientists and Researchers who excel in their practices and are considered some of the top minds in their field.

The Article – Non-invasive methods of penile lengthening: fact or fiction?

The aforementioned article is entitled "Non-invasive methods of penile lengthening: fact or fiction?" The abstract from the article reads:

"Penile size is a matter of great interest among men who are affected by 'short penis syndrome' or just believe themselves to have a small penis, even though the dimensions of the organ fall within the normal range. Surgical procedures of 'lengthening phalloplasty' lack standardized indications and carry a high risk of complications. Several non-invasive methods of penile lengthening have been described, such as vacuum devices, penile traction devices and penoscrotal rings; even 'physical exercises' have been popularized through the media. Most of these techniques, however, are not supported by any scientific evidence. We briefly analyse the efficacy and scientific background of such non-surgical methods of penile lengthening."

It's important to note that they are referencing "non-invasive" methods of penis enlargement. Penis surgery is considered an "invasive" method since it involves the actual cutting of skin and tissues. The article continues:

"It seems that penile extenders represent the only evidence-based technique of penile elongation. Results achieved do not seem to be inferior to surgery, making these traction devices an ideal first-line treatment option for patients seeking a penile lengthening procedure."

Source:BJUI / DOI: 10.1111/j.1464-410X.2010.09647.x

Although this conclusion may be unnecessary for the thousands of men across the globe who have already successfully enlarged their penises using traction devices (also called penis extenders), it is nice to see some confirmation from a published and reputable source. It is not the first scientific affirmation of the effectiveness of penis extender devices but it does somewhat help reduce the stigma commonly associated with natural penis enlargement.

I hope and anticipate that future medical studies and reports will continue to surface and bring about a greater understanding of the options men have when seeking to enlarge their penis. Men who are unsatisfied with penis size and wish to increase it can achieve that goal… they just need to be made aware that it's possible! These types of reports will hopefully serve to reassure men and raise awareness of the non-surgical options that exist to them.

For those men experiencing severe symptoms of erectile dysfunction where medications or other types of treatment prove ineffective or unsuitable, a last resort often involves the use of surgically implanted penile prosthesis devices. While penile implants have been shown to help in a large percentage of these cases, one common complaint is the accompanying decrease in overall penis size. Some researchers now suggest a possible remedy to the resulting dissatisfaction with penis size experienced after penile prosthesis implantation may involve the utilization of additional surgical augmentation techniques.

Penis Surgery

The decision to undergo any form of penile surgical procedure is not one to be made lightly. It should involve consulting with a qualified medical practitioner who is able to diagnose your condition and explain all the advantages, disadvantages and possible complications. That said, penile surgery is sometimes the only option available when less invasive medical treatments have been exhausted.

Understanding Penile Prostheses

A penile prosthesis is a surgically implanted device sometimes used in the treatment of medical conditions such as erectile dysfunction, penile trauma (accidental or intentional) and Peyronie's disease. The purpose of these devices is to artificially simulate an erection sufficient for penetration and sexual intercourse in cases where this would not normally be possible.

Types of penile implants:

Rigid Prosthesis – an implant that is permanently erect

Malleable/Semi-Rigid – these implants can be manually adjusted and bent into position

Inflatable/Hydraulic – prostheses that operate through cylinders inserted into the penis which can be inflated or deflated on demand

While mechanical failure and certain complications including infections, erosion and urethral injury have been noted in the past, newer penile prosthesis technology has helped to create a safer and more effective device. These advances, however, do not address one of the major complaints commonly associated with their usage, namely that of a loss in penis size.

Penile Implants and Penis Size

Even though penile implants work to effectively produce "erections", their use does not have an effect on the glans itself. During a normal erection, the glans (penis head) hardens and swells in size which aids in penetration. Intercourse is often made more difficult without the help of this natural process.

Another side effect of using a penile prosthesis is that artificial erection size is generally smaller than that of a normally functioning penis. In general, men lose approximately 1-2 cm (.25-.75 in) in length as the penis is unable to achieve the rigidity of a naturally occurring erection. The combination of these factors is what often leads to a lowered level of satisfaction among penile implant recipients.

The Use of Penile Augmentation Surgery

A study† published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine suggests that one way to counter the dissatisfaction experienced by penile prosthesis patients is by employing various augmentation techniques.

In a trial consisting of eighteen patients, eleven men underwent various surgical augmentation procedures (the remaining seven had their complaint relieved by counseling and the administration of PDE5 inhibitors). Of these eleven patients, two had elongation, girth augmentation, and glans injection; six had elongation and girth augmentation; and two had elongation and glans injection. With the exception of one patient who suffered graft loss, all patients indicated increased levels of satisfaction after the procedures were completed.

At the end of the study the researchers concluded:

"Implantation of a penile prosthesis may improve penile rigidity, yet may confound couple's satisfaction with penile size to variable degrees. Sex education may alleviate those concerns. In refractory cases, penile augmentation may enhance phallic size and increase patient/partner satisfaction."

Source:†Journal of Sexual Medicine / DOI 10.1111/j.1743-6109.2010.01723.x

For these men, surgical penis augmentation proved to be an effective means to remedy their displeasure with penis size. Their particular experience however should not be considered an endorsement of penis surgery for the singular use of increasing penis size.

In this case, specific circumstances precluded these men from employing any other means of natural penis enlargement. Undergoing penile augmentation surgery for the simple sake of vanity, where a man has an otherwise normally functioning penis, still remains a method in which the risks far outweigh the benefits.

The film, entitled "My Penis and Everyone Else's" challenges society's stereotypes of masculinity and gets to the heart of why men are so fixated with their penises. So grab some refreshments, sit back and be prepared for a fascinating look at one of the most sensitive topics confronting men today!

Title: My Penis and Everyone Else's
Running Time: 56 Minutes
Film Info: IMDB

Film Commentary

Here I'll discuss some parts of the documentary that I found the most interesting. Feel free to add your comments below. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions regarding this film!

Penis Discussions

While it's amusing to see just how reluctant men are towards discussing anything penis related, I don't think it's very surprising. I believe that most heterosexual males find the entire subject rather personal. Yes, many of us are obsessed with the male genitalia… but that obsession is usually restricted to our own penis.

As for why men are usually more willing to discuss the subject on websites, I think that's fairly obvious. The Internet by its nature affords us anonymity to think and say the things we really feel. By being a sort of buffer between reality and fantasy, it gives us the ability to express ourselves in ways we normally would not without the fear of embarrassment or ridicule.

Sex Toy Emporium

I found the film-maker's stop at the adult sex toy shop to be a rather sobering look at the entire penis enlargement industry. The demand for artificial means to enlarge the penis is simply astounding. It seems however that most retailers of these products are confined to temporary solutions such as penis pumps. This unfortunately is the result of gimmicky advertising that caters to the "I want it now" mentality. If something won't increase penis size immediately then most men are simply not interested.

One thing I was surprised to see was the availability of herbal enlargement supplements, in this case VigRx, in a storefront setting. I suppose things are different in Europe because from my experience you'd be hard pressed to find any sort of natural penis pills for sale in the continental United States. I don't however see this as a viable option for most men when proper support and a combined exercise/supplement program are absent. VigRx misses the mark on both of those.

See VigRX Penis Enlargement Pills Comments

Another insightful point made during his visit was regarding the over-sized sex toys. It's unfortunate but true that the sizes these dildos and vibrators come in only serve to increase the feelings of inadequacy that most men cope with.

The Porn Film Industry

Something else that affects most men's perceptions of penis size is the presence of well-hung men in adult films. This naturally causes us to form comparisons between ourselves and these huge "monsters." In fact I think the following statements from the film sum it up quite nicely.

"Every single man wants a huge mammoth cock for every single girl (who's) going – oh my God, that's huge, come here…"

"So from an early age men think they have to have huge porn star monster dicks…"

Average Penis Size

This is probably the most common subject whenever the topic of penis size comes up. So what is the average size of the penis? The honest answer is that nobody really knows! As mentioned in the documentary, both the Kinsey Institute and Durex Condoms performed "size studies"… but they let the men measure themselves? Come on! Most men are going to exaggerate the true numbers, not to mention that they probably don't even know how to measure the penis correctly!

Oh yeah, and the Lifestyles Condoms study was so much more realistic. Wait, they performed it on drunken college kids? Half of whom probably couldn't even get a decent erection if they wanted to? In all fairness, any sort of credible study is almost impossible to conduct because of the sensitive nature of the study itself.

Women's Opinion On Size

For most men this part of the film is going to be traumatic. Okay, probably not as bad as the penis surgery section (yikes!) but very depressing nonetheless. The painful truth is that size does matter when it comes to most women. And in as much as I already knew that, it doesn't lessen the feelings of inadequacy that these heartless nags illicit with their inane chattering.

"… the only problem was that when he did get it up, I didn't even realize (it)… he was that small!"

It's difficult to listen to words like that and not feel anger towards the person saying it. What kind of self-centered creature would put that much importance on one aspect of the male body? The (painful) answer is, the majority of the female sex. We shouldn't get upset and shy away from this discovery… it's an important truth even if it hurts.

Research Statistics

Some of the interesting information compiled from the 2005 study:

45% of men are dissatisfied with the size of their penis.

84% of men consider themselves to be "average" sized.

"… in other words, an awful lot of men who think they have average size dicks, wish they were bigger."

Encouraging Penis Disclosure

The section of the film where an attempt is made to get men to talk openly about their penises is rather, well, misguided. The simple fact is, as succinctly inferred by the large black fellow; the only time a man will talk about his penis size is when he himself happens to be well-endowed. I can certainly testify to that end… I talk about my penis more than anyone else I know! But if you're small or just average, what exactly is there to talk about?

Penis Modification and Surgery

When it comes to increasing penis size, there are no limits to the lengths some men would go. But I have never heard of someone trying to use a grease gun for enlargement! That is both incredibly foolish and dangerous.

Although plastic surgery is less barbaric by several orders of magnitude, to me it is still presents an unacceptable risk. I found it surprising that the wife of the guy who is about to undergo surgery seems so unworried by the procedure. Obviously her statement equating a penis size of 4-5 inches to being small is very telling.

The most surprising thing about this part of the film is when Jared (the man preparing to have penis surgery) mentions that his penis is 7 inches in length. That is by no means a "small" penis! Lawrence (the film-maker) obviously understands this, having a 3 inch penis himself, and his attempt to dissuade Jared was admirable. Unfortunately once someone has their mind set on something it's usually almost impossible to reason with them.

To be honest, I don't feel sorry for Jared at all. Like most guys, he wants to take the easy way out. If he's so obsessed with the size of his penis, why not spend the time to enlarge it the natural way? No, it won't happen overnight and it does take commitment and work. It is however, infinitely safer not to mention cheaper.

I am no proponent of surgery, and I mean all surgery not just penile enlargement. When the internal workings of the body are exposed to the outside world, it is open to contamination by bacteria and subject to infection. While surgery is sometimes unavoidable, this does not apply to instances where its sole purpose is cosmetic and for vanity's sake alone. If you had the courage to watch the actual procedure (I admit I had to avert my eyes at one point), then I'm sure you will agree that this type of intrusive operation is by no means "a walk in the park."

The Penis Montage

The final sequence of the movie was a bit too much for me. I mean, holy bunch of penis pictures! If you're into seeing lots of "junk" then this part is probably right up your alley. There's really only one penis I'm interested in seeing and that's my own. It was however interesting to see just how many men actually participated in this project.

In Closing

While I could have done without the closing "penis collage," overall I found this to be an excellent documentary. And although it's certainly not the first of its kind to broach this taboo subject, I feel that it was done in such a way as to be both entertaining and educational. Not only did it give insight into men's obsession with the penis, it also gave us a behind the scenes look at the female perspective.

To be honest, I didn't need a film to validate my beliefs. Yes, size does matter to both men and women. While some might find this revelation to be painfully distressing, I found it inspirational. It is after all the reason why websites such as Penis Resources exist in the first place – to provide the information needed to effect a positive change in your life.

So should you resign yourself to the fact that you have a small and therefore less desirable penis, or do you take the necessary steps to change that? Do you allow the insights gleaned from this film to depress you or do you instead find it motivational? Ultimately, the decision is up to you and you alone.

The first surgical procedures performed on the penis began back in the 1980's. Originally these operations were used to correct physical defects, deformities and other anomalies of the penis. Over the years, the term "penis surgery" has become more commonly associated with cosmetic techniques used to increase the length and width of the penis itself. Here we'll examine a brief history of penile surgery and how various surgical enlargement procedures came into practice.

Phalloplasty, the technical term referring to artificial re-constructive modification of the penis, first began as a surgical remedy for a medical condition known as "micropenis." This congenital defect results in an abnormally small penis (less than 6 centimeters) and affects only a very small percentage of the male population. In subsequent years, the procedures and techniques involved in the surgery were redefined to focus specifically on increasing the length of the penis for purely cosmetic reasons.

Penis Lengthening

The refinement of penis lengthening procedures is largely credited to a surgeon from China named Long Daochao. Dr. Daochao's contribution involved severing the suspensory ligament that anchors the penis to the body. This was done in order to allow the penis to drop more down and forward thereby increasing the amount of shaft that projects outside of the body. While not actually increasing the length of the penis, this technique does give the appearance of making the penis longer.

Penis Widening

Not too long afterwards, a man by the name of Richardo Samitier began work on a specific technique designed to increase the thickness of the penis. A surgeon from Miami Florida, Dr. Samitier previously specialized in lip enlargements before shifting his focus to penis enlargement. His technique involved the use of liposuction to transfer fat from another part of the body and inject it directly underneath the skin of the penis. Although this technique did effectively increase width, it was plagued by problems involving the migration of fatty deposits which often resulted in misshapen penises.

Dermal Fat Grafts

To avoid fat migration, later refinements of this technique replaced pure fat injections with dermal fat grafts. This involves removing two narrow strips of flesh from a patient's abdomen or buttocks, sewing them together, and inserting the pieces beneath the skin through an incision near the penis head.

While this proved to be more effective at creating a smoother penis texture then when using pure fat injections alone, it can leave thick scarring on the penis and in the area where the flesh was originally removed.

Alloderm Grafts

The latest and most common method used today to increase penis thickness is to insert tissue harvested from cadavers beneath the skin of the penis. Called Alloderm Grafts, this technique is meant to avoid unnecessary scarring on the body and reduce the possibility of fat lumping by allowing blood cells to generate new tissue which is more naturally incorporated into the body.

The effectiveness of this technique is still questioned by many surgeons who believe the tissue will never properly amalgamate into the body. To date the FDA has still not approved the use of this harvested tissue.

Penis surgery has evolved quite a bit from the early days but there remains much skepticism in the medical community regarding its use for cosmetic enhancement. Although many surgeons still refuse to consider using such techniques on patients, there are others that specialize in the procedure. Incidentally, there are those who specialize in the repairing of botched operations. Regardless, surgical procedures designed to increase penis size are still being performed on men from around the world even today.

The most extreme method of penis enlargement available today is, without a doubt, penis surgery. At upwards of ten thousand dollars, penis surgery is also the most expensive.

It's probably safe to say that while many men who are unsatisfied with their penis size have given thought to this procedure, most would never actually go through with it. In fact, if men knew the truth about exactly what could be expected from such drastic cosmetic alterations, I'm sure they would never even consider having it done.

Surgical penis enlargement is performed in two stages. In the first procedure, the ligament that anchors the penis to the pelvic bone is cut. This is done to allow the penis to extend further outward from the body and give the appearance of being longer.

Here's the first problem; without this ligament a penis can no longer point upward as it normally does when erect. Aside from physically looking abnormal, this also leaves the penis unstable and can make intercourse difficult.

In the second stage of surgical penis enlargement, fat cells are removed from an area of the body (often the abdomen or buttocks) and injected into the penis shaft. This is done to make the penis thicker.

Here's comes the second problem; injecting fat cells often causes lumps or bumps to appear on the penis. Not only does this make the penis appear disfigured but it will also feel strange during intercourse.

Actually this probably isn't that big of a deal considering that after about a year those bumps will usually disappear as the fat cells are reabsorbed into the body and the penis returns to it's original size. You read correctly… most of the "enlargement" gained from surgery is temporary! In fact, no medical journal has ever released a peer reviewed paper that showed any lasting results from this surgical enlargement procedure.

It's not hard to understand why neither the AUA (American Urological Association) nor the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) endorse this practice. Of course some plastic surgeons do make a pretty good living from repairing the damage done from this type of procedure.

Now at this point you're probably wondering why any man would subject himself to this operation at all. That's exactly what I was thinking when I left the surgeon's office – and I never ever considered it again.

The truth about surgical penis enlargement is that the solution is often far worse then the problem. There's no reason why anyone should have to undergo such a risky operation when true natural enlargement is possible with only a little effort and patience. Learn about some of the best recommendations for penis enlargement that don't require surgery.

Peyronie's disease, more commonly known as penile curvature, is a condition characterized by an abnormal or exaggerated bend in the penis. While there are surgical solutions to correct this condition, most notably the "Nesbit Procedure", many men are unwilling to undergo this type of treatment due to a shortening of the penis length that generally accompanies it. One of the newer and more advanced surgical methods for treating this condition is through the use of penile tissue grafts.

This type of procedure involves the complete surgical removal of the lump of plaque that develops on the penis due to Peyronie's and is designed to help straighten the penis in order to bring it back to its original shape. This approach is often recommended to patients who have large plaque deposits and severely bent penises. In this procedure, a surgeon removes the affected part of the Tunica Albuginea and replaces the plaque with a graft material of some type.

There are several different types of grafts that can be used to replace lost tissue. The first type is autograft tissue, which is tissue taken from the patient's own body during surgery. This is done to minimize the immunologic response to the graft and to ensure that the patient's body does not reject it.

Surgeons can also use synthetic inert substances, such as Dacron mesh or GORE-TEX instead of living tissue. Unfortunately, these artificial compounds tend to cause more scarring and also fibrosis, which is the formation of excessive connective tissue on the penis.

In some cases, doctors can use xenografts, which are foreign tissues, of human or animal origin. While these are widely available in hospitals, they are also prone to rejection by the body's immune system.

One common problem associated with penile surgical procedures to correct Peyronie's disease is a post-operative contraction that leads to a shortening of penis length. Because of this, it is wise for potential recipients to weigh the pros and cons of these types of surgery before undergoing it.

Another type of treatment for men suffering from Peyronie's disease is penile implants. While penile implants were once a popular recommendation for those suffering from erectile dysfunction, the advent of drugs to treat this condition has made their use less frequent. Implants, however, are still recommended by some physicians to those suffering from extreme curvature and for whom drugs do not help.

Penile implants are plastic cylinders, either solid or inflatable, which are surgically embedded within the Corpora Cavernosa. These cylinders are biocompatible in order to avoid triggering a response of the immune system which causes the body to reject the implants. The surgeon can either place the implants inside the penis and let them do the work of straightening the organ, or they can try to bend the penis against the plaque in order to increase the implants chance of successfully correcting the curvature.

Patients considering these types of invasive procedures should always be cautious. Premature or inadequate surgery has a high rate of failure and recurrence of the disease is possible. While it is true that patients who have undergone successful surgery are usually satisfied with the results, it only takes a single mistake to botch an operation. With penis surgery, there is no going back.

Many men are unsatisfied with the size of their penis and would be extremely happy if they could enlarge it. If you're one of these men and have decided to do something about it, then you have taken the first step to attaining that goal. The next step of course, is to decide upon the penis enlargement method that is best suited to you. There are several choices available and they vary in the amount of time, dedication and complexity needed to accomplish this task.

If you are a private individual that has a lot of free time, then using a traction device for penis enlargement might be the right choice. These devices are fastened to the penis and exert a constant stretch on the soft penile tissues. They can usually be concealed under the clothing but this might not be a good choice for someone who is constantly active as it can be a bit uncomfortable. While it is has been proven effective after consistent use, this type of equipment might not be feasible for many men.

Another device used by many men is the penis vacuum pump. These pumps are sometimes recommended by doctors for patients that have difficulty attaining erections, such as those suffering from diabetes or severe circulation problems. This device however only promotes temporary size increase and there are many risks and dangers involved in its use.

For someone who doesn't have much free time, a natural penis enlargement exercise regimen might be more appropriate. Penis exercises act on the penis in much the same way as traction devices, except of course that they require you manually stimulate your penis with a series of stretches. They can be performed at your leisure and you are in full control of your workout at all times which lessons the chance of injury which can occur with some mechanical devices.

There are also a wide variety of enhancement supplements like penis pills and patches which can be used in conjunction with a natural enlargement exercise routine. The main function of these supplements is to increase the flow of blood to the genitals, elevate testosterone and energy levels, and generally enhance the entire reproductive system.

Cosmetic penis enlargement surgery, also known as phalloplasty, is another method chosen by some men. This procedure however is very expensive and fraught with danger. Impotence, scarring, permanent numbness and deformity are just some of the inherent risks of penis surgery.

As anyone with an email account will know, the natural penis enlargement market is ripe with scam artists and bogus companies looking to cash in on men's insecurities about their penises. "Professionals" are quick to dismiss the effectiveness of these solutions but I've yet to meet one that has actually taken the time and effected the dedication needed to make these methods successful. There is no money in natural penis enlargement for the doctors and big pharmaceutical companies that push drugs as the cure for any condition.

Look around and review some of your options before you start on a natural penis enlargement solution and remember that nothing good ever comes easy. If you're expecting to see huge gains after only a month of stretching or taking some pills, then you probably shouldn't be considering penis enlargement at all.

Many men are obsessed when it comes to the size of their penis. Even though there is nothing physically wrong with it they still wish they had a larger one. More and more frequently men are turning to penile enlargement surgery in hopes of curing what they consider to be a depressingly cruel genetic circumstance.

While most of us would probably shudder at the prospect of having a surgeons blade at our most precious of possessions, there is no shortage of men willing to undergo surgery just for the chance that it will help them improve their sex life.

Traditionally, penile augmentation surgery uses the technique of removing fatty tissue from an area of the patients body and re-inserting that fat into the penis. Often these fat cells are taken from grafts from the patients buttocks. What most don't realize is that over time the increase in size they had obtained is likely to diminish as the fatty tissues are reabsorbed back into the patients own body.

While there have been some advancements made in penile surgery techniques, there still are a number of problems often associated with it. Some times lumps are formed in the penis do to the migration of fat. Instead of the results hoped for, a man may find that fat injections create lumpy, asymmetrical and unappealing results. Injected fat can migrate to surrounding areas and cause the penis to appear misshapen.

Penis shortening can also happen when scar tissue forms after the operation and begins to toughen and shrink. Sometimes the penile supporter, called the suspensory ligaments are severed to make the penis "appear" to hang longer and this can result in a downward pointing erection. Being under a general anesthetic for a long period of time also incurs certain risks, not to mention excessive bleeding and possible infection. After all these potential risks, probably the least of your worries should be the price tag associated with it which happens to run upwards of $8000. So many "cons" and not a "pro" in sight!

With so many alternative methods that are infinitely safer and less expensive, why would any man subject himself to such a procedure? Some of the newest natural methods of penis enlargement like exercise techniques (or "traction devices" for the more stalwart) are certainly better options than surgery. These are not overnight miracle cures and you won't go to sleep and wake up with a new penis… but you also don't have to worry about waking up to a nightmarish disfigurement! Maybe someday someone will invent a thing that instantly grows your member but for now hard work, dedication and patience is the surest and safest bet if you want a bigger penis.
