Understanding Sperm Production

There are a multitude of reasons for an increase or decrease in sperm production. Unlike women who are born with all the eggs they will ever need and stop producing egg cells upon menopause, men only start to produce sperm cells upon puberty.

Consequently, the effects of their daily activities influence the sperm production process. When sperm fails to be produced properly or isn't produced at all, conception becomes almost impossible.

The factors that may affect the sperm quality and therefore potentially limit the chances of conception can be summarized in six points:

Sperm Mobility

This refers to the sperm's ability to move in a dynamic and active fashion. Sperm is considered healthy and active when over 25% of them moving strongly in one direction. This is significant because it enables these sperm to travel through the cervical canal, into the uterus and the fallopian tubes and finally, to pierce the egg.

Sperm Concentration

Concentration is a measure of the number of sperm cells in a milliliter of semen. The average or normal concentration measures around 22 million sperm cells per milliliter of semen.

Sperm Morphology

This refers to the actual shape of a sperm cell. A healthy sperm cell is almost tadpole shaped. The oval head of the sperm holds the genetic material, while the center provides energy and the tail is used to thrust the sperm forward. Experts believe that oddly shaped sperm are not capable of fertilizing an egg.

Sperm Speed

Speed is another factor that affects sperm quality. According to a study done by the World Health Organization, more than 25% of sperm in a healthy male will exhibit progressive mobility. These sperm are the ones with the best chance of successfully infiltrating and fertilizing an egg.

Sperm Count

Another vital factor in sperm production is sperm count. Count refers to the number of sperm in the fluid that is ejaculated. There are over 50 million sperm in a normal ejaculate. A total count below 40 million may indicate decreased fertility.

This term refers to couples who are unable to conceive after a year's period of unprotected intercourse. This is not the same as infertility. The typical causes of male sub-fertility are sperm production problems, blockage in the sperm's delivery system, testicle injuries, low or high hormone production, anatomical problems, varicocele, past illness, side effects of medications and sperm quality.

Increasing Sperm Volume

Increasing the volume of ejaculation has become a common desire among men. Over the past few years, the medical community had been committed to developing a safe and effective method of achieving this.

Recent studies show that increasing sperm volume can be accomplished in a few ways.

The first way is by taking herbal supplements that contain both amino acids and zinc. Amino acids, if taken regularly, are generally believed to increase ejaculate fluid. Zinc it seems helps to improve both the amount of sperm produced as well as the sperm's ability to move spontaneously and independently.

An all natural supplement such as the one reviewed on my website, VolumePills™, also contains all the necessary ingredients needed to increase your ejaculate significantly.

Another way to increase sperm volume is by doing PC exercises. While the primary purpose of Kegel exercises is to help you maintain an erection longer and prevent premature ejaculation, they can also aid in increasing the amount of sperm you produce and the power of your ejaculation.
